This video clip is so fascinating to me! Adoption is NOT the answer to AIDS in Africa and the growing number of orphans, we need to do much much more.

Homestudy Visit #1

Hello everyone...

So Mike and I just finished our homestudy visit tonight. I wasn't nervous until an hour before she arrived and then I started freaking out. I'm thankful that we cleaned the entire house though, because tonight ended up including the "house tour."
Anyways, we met her and she is really laid back and nice. We have scheduled all of our other meetings as well and it looks like things will be moving quickly!

Now we just have to complete twenty pages of homework and keep up with the reading!

Oh and for those inquiring about our agencies, you can find out more about them by clicking on the links to the right.

Fingerprints...

On Saturday Mike and I got our criminal record checks and fingerprints done! I was so excited to get my prints done but unfortunately they don't even take you into some scary back room, they just bring the stamp pad out into the lobby...
Oh well, one more step completed.

We're expecting from Ethiopia!!!

After a year of researching agencies, reading, and thinking about adoption, Mike and I have officially started the process!
We are thrilled to announce that we will be adopting a baby boy from Ethiopia!

I decided to start this blog so that family and friends can journey with us to meeting our son. When someone is pregnant it is easy to know what stage they are at in their pregnancy, you know the typical questions to ask, and there is a fairly accurate due date to anticipate. Mike and I don't exactly have a due date, not even a tentative month. So hopefully this blog will answer your questions and keep you all updated as we go.

As for blogging, I have never actually been a fan of blogs until I started researching adoption. Through countless blogs of families adopting from Ethiopia, I have found tons of information and support. It is now my hope that this blog will also be useful to other prospective adoptive parents out there who may be reading. And so, I too have become a blogger, somewhat hesitantly. (I still don't agree with facebook yet, so please do not attach any link to this in your facebook!)

love,

em & mike
